DIY Makeup Remover

I created this DIY makeup remover because I wanted something gentler, cleaner, and more effective than what I could find on store shelves. With just a handful of simple ingredients, this blend stays lightweight, removes makeup beautifully, and keeps that delicate eye area moisturized without feeling greasy. It is gentle but strong enough to remove waterproof mascara with ease. And while many high‑end brands run well over $20 a bottle, this homemade version gives you better quality at a fraction of the cost!

Ingredients

  • 2.5 oz. distilled water
  • 1.5 oz. fractionated coconut oil
  • 1 oz. witch hazel
  • 2 drops lavender essential oil

Instructions

  • Combine ingredients in a medium-size mason jar.
  • Tightly secure the lid and shake vigorously until well incorporated. Transfer to a small travel-size bottle.
  • When ready to use, shake the bottle gently and moisten a flat cotton round. Gently sweep downward and outward to remove makeup. Repeat as needed, taking care to avoid getting the mixture directly in your eyes.

Notes

  • All skin reacts differently, so test a small amount on a patch of skin before using.
  • Because this goes near a very sensitive area, choose high‑quality, pure ingredients. I use 100% pure witch hazel and therapeutic‑grade essential oil. Organic fractionated coconut oil is also ideal since it is processed without synthetic chemicals.
  • I like to double or triple this recipe and store the extra in a mason jar under my sink for quick and easy refilling.
